AMW Site Launched!

The Association of Masonic Webmasters (AMW) web site was officially launched onto an unsuspecting world on 1 June 2009.

With much for Webmasters and Information Officers concerned with Masonic sites worldwide, it promises to be the premier source of articles of interest for everyone concerned with promoting Freemasonry via the World Wide Web.  posted 1 June 2009

Association of Masonic Webmasters formed

The Association of Masonic Webmasters, a self-help group for those involved in producing websites for Freemasons, was mooted on 8 December 2008 in emails between W Bro Sid Jenkinson, webmaster for East Lancashire, and Bro Phillip Benson, webmaster for Warwickshire. After numerous emails, the Association came into being later that day.

Messages of support soon followed from the Provincial Information Officers of Warwickshire and East Lancashire and sponsorship of the hosting for the site was generously supplied by YorkUK Hosting Ltd, trading as York Networks.   posted 1 May 2009

USB 3.0

USB 3.0 products are starting to hit the market. The new USB format, dubbed SuperSpeed, transfers data at about 250MB/s, (Theoretical maximum 600MB/s), or about 10 times faster than USB 2.0 in real-world applications and with full-duplex data transmission rather than half-duplex as with previous versions.

It also has the advantage of consuming less power during normal operation, but can, conversely, supply more power to configured devices that need it when necessary. There are a few incompatibilities between connectors, though, that might make it difficult to plug your memory stick into a USB3.0 equipped PC. 29 September 2009
